  • 1 cup warm water
  • 2.25 teaspoon active dry yeast
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon butter, melted

Preparation Steps

  • In a large bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let stand for 5 minutes until foamy.
  • Add flour and salt to the yeast mixture. Stir until a dough forms.
  • Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
  • Place the dough in a greased bowl, turning to coat. Cover and let rise in a warm place for 30 minutes, or until doubled in size.
  • Punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a ball.
  • Place the rolls on a baking sheet and brush with melted butter.
  • Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown.
