Preparation Steps

  • Rinse and sort the pinto beans. Soak them in water overnight or for at least 6 hours.
  • In a large pot, combine the soaked beans, onion, garlic, chili powder, cumin, beef broth, salt, and pepper.
  • Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for about 1 hour, or until the beans are tender.

Notes

For a spicier dish, add more chili powder or a pinch of cayenne pepper. You can also add other vegetables, such as diced carrots or bell peppers.
