  • 12 cups cubed bread
  • 1 cup celery finely chopped
  • 1 cup onion finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tsp sage
  • 0.5 tsp thyme
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 4 cups chicken broth

Preparation Steps

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add celery and onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  • Stir in sage, thyme, salt, and pepper. Add bread cubes and toss to coat.
  • Gradually add chicken broth, stirring until bread is moistened.
  • Transfer stuffing to a greased baking dish. Bake for 45 minutes, or until golden brown and heated through.

Notes

For a richer stuffing, use half butter and half olive oil. You can also add other vegetables like mushrooms or carrots.
